Christmas in San Diego

Yes, that's a Christmas Tree on the Beach.

We all woke up pretty late this morning, and ate before we started opening presents.

I think my sisters were pretty happy with what they received from me (20 gb iPods). I got a Roomba from them, which I am extremely excited about taking back to San Jose, and letting loose in the apartment. I also got a book, a DVD and a picture frame.

Afterwards, my sister Christina decided to take us on a stroll along the beach to watch the sunset. We wound up at La Jolla Shores, and the first thing we see is a Christmas tree someone brought.

Even though it's Christmas day, there were still quite a few people out and about taking a stroll. It's nowhere near as how crowded it is during the summer, but it's still quite populated.

The tidepools hold many varieties of life, including these sea anenomes.

A beautiful California sunset:

These little birds are hilarious. They run really quickly along the beach and remind me of the Roadrunner in those classic Warner Bros. cartoons.

Since it was past sunset, people started building some bonfires along the beach. We saw a rather large blaze, much larger than normal, creating a lot of smoke very far into the distance.

There's not enough snow to build snowmen, but someone at the beach decided in the spirit of the season to build a Sandman:

As we got closer to the large fire, we realized what it was that was burning. It was that Christmas tree that someone had brought to the beach.
