This project sort of happened as a result of needing a S-Video to Composite Video (for my Project: Apple PowerBook in a Car). In the United States, the current trend is to make the car more like a living room. With that in mind, what living room can be considered complete without a TiVo?
I want to point out that while this does work, it could have been any device that I could have chosen to plug in, I just happened to choose the TiVo because it has S-Video in and it allowed me to evaluate my PowerBook's performance and utility in the car. This could have easily have been a PS2 or Xbox360 or any other piece of electronic goodness one can find hooked up to a living room television.

TiVo looks pretty good on the LCD screen. The TiVo was not permanently installed, but the strength of the TiVo remote seemed to indicate that anywhere in the cabin within line-of-sight was okay. Due to the size and bulk of the TiVo and the line-of-sight restriction, I'd advise against installing a TiVo into smaller vehicles.
My final thought about this project is that if the person had a Home Media Option, they could keep the car in the garage and transmit wirelessly to preload the TiVo in the car provided they had another Series 2 TiVo. For doing this, they may want to unplug the TiVo from the power inverter and plug it into the house's electrical system (or else they might drain away the batteries of the car).
